We had our hospital tour yesterday after the doctor visit. Apparently hospital tours are a thing of the past. I guess it's understandable that people don't want to go to a place people consider dreary and sometimes scary. For us it was about getting to know what the place is like and figuring out where to go. It was also our first practice run to the hospital.
The hospital itself was pretty nice. It's typical for a hospital but I have not been in a maternity ward since I was born. Sure it's got the hospital beds and needle disposals but it's very different from the emergency waiting rooms. It's more self-contained, being on its own floor, and much more inviting. At least there's no waiting room right at the entrance.
It was kind of interesting to see that the entrance is secured for both entry and exit. I can understand that. You don't want newborns escaping the hospital.
